All is not lost in the fight against the demon invasion in London. The wreckage of Flagship Studios has been salvaged by Hanbitsoft who has been running the game in Korea. Hanbitsoft plans to re-release the game in Europe and North America sometime this year.

"The company plans to re-launch the game in China, Taiwan, South East Asia, followed by Europe, NA and Japan."

Hanbitsoft has not only been running the game as a free to play service in Korea, they've been developing the game and even another expansion pack for it titled Hellgate: Tokyo. Not surprisingly, this expansion pack takes place IN Tokyo!

"Hanbitsoft has announced Hellgate: Resurrection will launch officially on December 8, and revealed a teaser trailer of Hellgate: Tokyo. The ACT 1 (of 10) is scheduled to be implemented on March 2010."

"The game will be free to play with basic items, and Hanbitsoft plans to offer a service that allows players to purchase items for real-money."

I'm admittedly excited about the possibility of playing Hellgate: London again assuming they've fixed a lot of the issues that killed it for me in the first place. I'm also not a fan of the selling in-game items for real money, but at least the money will be going to the people who deserve it, and not someone who "farms" the game all day.

My main concern is if there will be items in the game that are ONLY available if you purchase them. I hate to encourage this nickle and dime mentality in the game industry in any shape or form.

I played the game Project Entropia for maybe a day a year or so after it launched. Project Entropia is the game that keeps making headlines about virtual properties being sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars. The game was built around the idea that the in game currency will be tied to real currency. You can use your real money to purchase game money, and for a fee, withdraw game money for real money. Unfortunately, atleast for a minimal investment of $20, you barely got enough in game money to keep you alive for a couple hours. The game appeared to me to be geared towards ripping people off unless they invest heavily so they actually have a chance of getting established enough to be self sufficient.

Hopefully the new Hellgate: London won't sink to that level though.

Firefox likes to take 100% width and force it onto a new line, and * width to mean take only as much as it needs. This text is in here to force FF to display 100% the same way that IE does. Ghetto fix FTW! OMG! a hidden counter! Views: 369
